En las residencias Melon District nos interesa que los estudiantes además de sentirse cómodos y que tengan espacios adecuados para estudiar y descansar, que también disfruten de actividades de ocio, deportivas y/o culturales para mejorar la integración durante su estancia. Es por ello que cada ciclo académico proponemos diversas actividades dentro y fuera de la residencia.

Una de ellas que hemos comenzado en este ciclo 2012-2013 es el taller de cocina en la residencia de Melon District Marina; el cual se imparte de manera gratuita y dos veces al mes para nuestros residentes. Este taller de cocina ha sido una actividad bastante popular entre los residentes, y esto es debido a que nuestro amigo Yves Nicolier no deja de sorprendernos con sus deliciosas recetas preparadas para estos encuentros gastronómicos.

At Melon District’s residences we want the students besides feeling comfortable and having adequate spaces for studying and resting, they can also have leisure, sports and cultural activities to improve integration among all. That’s why every academic year we program several activities inside and outside the residence.

One of them are the cooking workshops at Melon District Marina, which are provided free of charge twice a month for the residents. This cooking workshop is very popular among residents, and it is because our friend Yves Nicolier never stops to amaze us with its delicious recipes prepared for these gastronomic events.

Al igual que en otras grandes ciudades europeas, en Barcelona se suelen organizar sesiones de cine al aire libre durante las noches de verano, para poder disfrutar de las noches cálidas y pasar un rato agradable con los amigos.

En Melon District celebraremos nuestra 2ª edición de cine al aire libre en el patio de la residencia de Marina. A partir del próximo miércoles 15 de Mayo a las 20h30 comenzaremos con la proyección de la primera película: “Lo imposible” (“The Impossible”).

La edición anterior fue un completo éxito ya que entre todos nos ayudaron a elegir la película a proyectar. Este año lo haremos de igual forma, así que ayúdanos a elegir la película para cada sesión votando en nuestra página de facebook.

Serán tres sesiones durante el mes de mayo y habrá palomitas y bebidas gratis, ¡no te las pierdas!

Like in other big European cities, open-air film screenings are very popular in Barcelona during summer, offering the chance to enjoy the warm nights and relax with friends.

At Melon District we’ll be holding our 2nd open-air film sessions on the patio at the Marina residence. Next week, on Wednesday 15th May at 20h30, we will start with our first movie projection: “The Impossible“.

Last year’s edition was a resounding success, as the films chosen were decided between everyone. We’ll be doing the same thing this time around, so help us choose the film for each screening by voting on our Facebook page.

Three screenings will be held in total in May and there will be free popcorn and drinks, so don’t miss out!

Este 2013 Barcelona será la cumbre del deporte extremo con los  X Games del 16 al 19 de mayo. Barcelona contará con las grandes figuras del skate, BMX, Rally y Moto X: Travis Pastrana, Pierre-Luc Gagnon, Marcus Gronholm o Kyle Loza en un evento espectacular que se ha consolidado como un icono de la competición deportiva extrema.

Algunos de los responsables de ESPN, empresa creadora de los X Games, han llegado a Barcelona hace unas semanas para iniciar con el montaje de una construcción que tendrá un total de 31.000m2 de instalaciones deportivas.

Una de las construcciones más complejas e impresionantes que se podrá apreciar durante los X Games Barcelona es la megaramp, una estructura de 25 metros de altura y 100 metros de longitud, que acogerá las pruebas de Skate y BMX Big Air dentro del Palau Sant Jordi (tienes que ver el video para que puedas darte cuenta de lo impresionante que quedará el Estadi Olímpic LLuis Companys cuando quede listo para la competición).

Comenzando el 10 de mayo con el Gran Premio de España de Fórmula 1, y continuando la siguiente semana con los X-Games y el Salón del Automóvil, convertirá a Barcelona en la indiscutible protagonista del panorama deportivo internacional.

This 2013 Barcelona will be top for the extreme sports as the X Games wich will be held from 16 to 19 May. Great figures in skateboarding, BMX, Moto X and Rally will feature such as: Travis Pastrana, Pierre-Luc Gagnon, Kyle Loza or Marcus Gronholm in an event that has become an icon of the extreme sports competition.

Responsible staff from ESPN, the creator of the X Games, has arrived in Barcelona few weeks ago to start the assembly of a building that will have a total of 31.000m2 sports facilities.

One of the most complex and impressive buildings that will be seen during the X Games Barcelona will be a MegaRamp, an structure 25 meters high and 100 meters long, which will host the Skate and BMX Big Air competitions in the Palau Sant Jordi. (you have to see the video so you can realize how awesome it will be the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium when it is ready for these competitions).

Beginning on May 10^th with the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix, and continue next week with the X-Games and the International Motor show, will turn Barcelona into the undisputed star of the international sports scene.

El pasado viernes 12 de abril, celebramos la fiesta de despedida organizada para algunos de los estudiantes que deben volver pronto a su país.

Ha sido uno de los primeros días aquí en Barcelona cuando la temperatura ha comenzado a subir para hacernos sentir que estamos en primavera. Así que era el momento perfecto para celebrarlo en la piscina de la residencia de Melon District Marina.

Fue una tarde agradable con todos los residentes que a pesar de que era la despedida para algunos, hemos tenido un ambiente muy animado entre todos. Podrás ver todas las fotos de la fiesta en nuestra página de Facebook.

Last Friday April 12, we have celebrated the farewell pool party organized for some of the students who should return soon to their countries.

It was one of the first days here in Barcelona when the temperature has begun to rise to make us feel that we are now in Spring; so it was the perfect moment to celebrate the farewell party at the pool of Melon District Marina residence.

It was a nice evening with all the residents even though it was the time to say good bye for some of them, there was a very nice atmosphere among all. If youy want to see all the photos of the party just go to our facebook albums.

Melon District convoca la primera edición del concurso “Reinventando el Espacio Melon”, con el objetivo de renovar el diseño de unos de los espacios de su residencia de estudiantes Melon District Poble Sec y promover el talento, la creatividad emergente y las ideas innovadoras entre los estudiantes de diseño interior y arquitectura a los que se dirige esta convocatoria.

Pueden participar de manera individual o en grupo (máximo de 2 integrantes), todos los estudiantes mayores de 18 años, que estén matriculados en algún curso de Grado, Post-Grado o Master en el ciclo académico 2012/2013 en cualquiera de los Centros de las Universidades o Escuelas Superiores de Diseño o Arquitectura en Barcelona, independientemente de su nacionalidad.

La idea más original, divertida y más “Melon” tendrá como primer premio 2.000 euros y participará en la realización del proyecto en nuestra residencia de estudiantes.

Además tendremos la colaboración de algunas de las mejores escuelas de diseño de Barcelona como son: BAU, ELISAVA, IED, ESDi , Deià y Escola Massana.

We have launched the call to the 1st. contest “Refreshing the Melon space”

Melon District in holding the first edition of its contest “Refreshing the Melon space” with the aim of renewing the design of some of the spots of its students residence hall Melon District Poble Sec. This initiative promotes the talent, creativity and innovative ideas emerging from students of interior design and architecture.

There are different ways to participate in the contest, either individually or via group (maximum 2 people); any student over 18 years old who are enrolled in a course of a Degree, Post Graduate or Master for the 2012/2013 academic year in any of the centers or universities specializing in design or arquitecture, regardless of nationality.

The most original, fun and most “Melon” work will be prized with 2,000 euros and will execute the project in our student’s residence.

We will have the support of some of the best art and design schools in Barcelona, including: BAU, ELISAVA, IED, ESDi, Deià and Escola Massana.
