The next stop on Madonna’s Sticky and Sweet Tour is here in Barcelona. On Tuesday, July 21, Madonna will perform at the Estadi Olimpic Lluís Companys. The queen of pop has been touring since August of 2008 to excited crowds all over Europe, South America and the United States. Her special guest will be the highly acclaimed DJ Paul Oakenfold who will surely make her performance even more memorable. The Sticky and Sweet Tour is sure to impress fans and MelonDistrict hopes that all the concert goers have a great time!

La siguiente parada en la gira Sticky and Sweet Tour de Madonna es aquí en Barcelona. Este martes, 21 de julio, Madonna se presentará en el Estadi Olimpic Lluís Companys. La reina del pop ha estado de gira desde agosto del 2008 por toda Europa, Sur America y los Estados Unidos. El artista invitado de su gira por Europa será el famoso Paul Oakenfold quien seguramente hará su espectáculo más memorable. La gira Sticky and Sweet seguramente impresionará admiradores y MelonDistrict espera que todos los que asistan el espectáculo lo disfruten!

The city of Barcelona is creating the largest public wifi system in the country. There are already 170 wifi points installed throughout the city, by the end of the year there will be 300 wifi points, and at the finalization of the project in 2010 there will be 500 wifi points. The wifi points will be distributed throughout all the districts of the city in public areas such as libraries, museums, sporting arenas, and parks. The radius of the signal will be 20 to 50 meters in enclosed areas and 100 to 150 meters in open areas. The system will have a filter to block pornographic pages, gaming pages, chats, and pages where users can download files, however social networking pages such as Facebook and Tuenti will be allowed. There will be various wifi points close to both MelonDistrict Marina and MelonDistrict Poble Sec.

El Ayuntamiento de Barcelona esta poniendo en función la red wifi publica más grande del país. Ya hay 170 puntos de wifi por la ciudad, para el fin del año habrá 300 puntos y para la terminación del proyecto en el 2010 habrá 500 puntos de wifi. Los puntos de wifi serán situados por todos los distritos de Barcelona en áreas públicas como bibliotecas, museos, centros deportivos, y parques. La radio de los puntos de wifi será de 20 a 50 metros en áreas cerradas y de 100 a 150 metros en áreas abiertas. El sistema tendrá un filtro que restringirá paginas Web pornográficas, de juegos, chats, y de descargas de archivos pero reds sociales como Facebook y Tuenti no serán restringidas. Habrá varios puntos wifi cerca de MelonDistrict Marina y MelonDistrict Poble Sec.

La Torre Espiral será el icono visual del futuro Campus Diagonal – Besos de la Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. Jordi Hereu, el alcalde de Barcelona entre otros políticos importantes, estuvo presente para celebrar la colocación de la primera piedra de la torre que se terminará en el 2011 y el resto del campus se completará y será funcional para el 2015. La torre diseñada por Zaha Hadid es uno de los proyectos mas grandes e importantes del distrito 22@. La torre se convertirá en el punto de intersección y convergencia del área del Forum, el campus de la UPC y el distrito 22@. MelonDistrict Marina espera con ansia la apertura de este campus de la UPC para alojar a sus estudiantes dada la cercanía geográfica del proyecto.

Laying of the Foundation Stone of the Spiral Tower!

The Spiral Tower will be the visual icon of the future Campus Diagonal – Besos of the Universitat Politècnica of Catalunya. Jordi Hereu, the mayor of Barcelona among other political figures, was present at the celebration of the laying of the foundation stone of the tower that will be completed in 2011, with the rest of the campus being completed and functional by 2015. The tower designed by Zaha Hadid is one of the largest and most important projects of the 22@ district. The tower will become the intersection and convergence point of the Forum area, the UPC campus, and the 22@ district. MelonDistrict Marina anxiously awaits the opening of this UPC campus so it may house these students because of its proximity to the project.
