After months of hard work and diligence MelonDistrict Marina will finally open its doors to its first students tomorrow Tuesday September 1st. Many students attended our open house and already saw what it will be like to live in MelonDistrict Marina, but tomorrow the true living experience begins! Students from all over the world will move in this week to start the new academic year in the different universities all over Barcelona. We at MelonDistrict are here to help and welcome all the students back to school and to Barcelona.

MelonDistrict Marina Abre Sus Puertas Mañana!

Después de meses de mucho trabajo y dedicación MelonDistrict Marina por fin abrirá sus puertas a los estudiantes mañana 1ro de septiembre. Varios estudiantes asistieron nuestras jornadas de puertas abiertas y vieron como es MelonDistrict Marina, pero mañana comenzara la verdadera experiencia. Estudiantes de todas partes del mundo se mudaran esta semana a la residencia de estudiantes para comenzar el año académico en diferentes universidades por todo Barcelona. Nosotros estamos aquí para ayudarle a todos los estudiantes y les damos la bienvenida a todos los estudiantes.

On Wednesday August 26th is the annual tomato fight in the town of Buñol, which is world’s largest tomato fight. It is the highlight of the weeklong festival and it will take place from 11 am to 1 pm this Wednesday. The very small town has thousands of visitors each year eager to participate in the fight. The rules are simple you can’t bring any bottles or objects that can cause an accident and you have to crush the tomatoes before throwing them. It is one of the most popular Spanish parties and MelonDistrict hopes that all the participants have an amazing time.

La Tomatina!

Este miércoles 26 de agosto es la fiesta de la Tomatina en Buñol, que es la guerra de tomates más grande del mundo. Es el evento más importante del festival que dura toda la semana y será de las 11 a las 13 horas. El pequeño pueblo atrae miles de visitantes todos los años emocionados por participar en la guerra. La reglas son muy sencillas, no puedes meter botellas o otros objetos peligrosos y también tienes que aplastar los tomates antes de tirarlos. Es una de las fiestas españolas más populares y MelonDistrict espera que todos los participantes se la pasen muy bien.

Las fiestas de Gracia, comienzan el 15 de agosto y continuaran hasta el 21 de agosto. La fiesta Mayor de Gracia o Festa Major comenzaron en 1817 y son las celebraciones más tradicionales y antiguas de Barcelona. Durante las fiestas las calles se adornaran por los vecinos y habrá una competencia por la calle mejor decorada. La calle Verdi en Gracia es una de las calles más famosas y mas bien decoradas durante estas fiestas. El tema de este año es Nova Canco, un movimiento musical catalán que surgió en los 60s y 70s. Estas fiestas tradicionales son algo que verse en Barcelona y MelonDistrict fomenta la asistencia a estas fiestas.

The fiestas of Gracia, will start on August 15th and will continue until the 21st of August. The fiesta mayor of Gracia or Festa Major started in 1817 and is the oldest and most traditional celebration in Barcelona. During the festivities the streets are decorated by the residents and they compete to see who has the best decorated street in Gracia. Verdi street in Gracia is one of the most famous and best decorated streets during the festivities. The theme of the competition is Nova Canco, a catalan musical movement that was popular during the 60s and 70s. These traditional festivities are worth seeing and MelonDistrict encourages you to attend.

Monday August 3rd, marked the kick off of Barcelona Summer Week 2009. The famous festival which hosts world renown DJs from all over the world ends on August 9th. Top DJs such as DJ Tiesto, David Guetta, and Armin Van Buren will play their newest hits to thousands of fans. This event promises to be one of the best musical events of the summer. MelonDistrict student residence hall hopes everyone has a great time listening to great music all week on the beach!

Este lunes 3 de agosto marco el comienzo de Barcelona Summer Week 2009. Este festival famoso en el cual habrá espectáculos por DJs conocidos por todo el mundo terminará el 9 de agosto. Los mejores Djs como DJ Tiesto, David Guetta y Armin Van Buren tocaran sus canciones más nuevas frente miles de personas. El evento promete ser uno de los mejores eventos musicales del verano. MelonDistrict, residencia de estudiantes espera que todos la pasen muy bien oyendo música buena toda la semana por toda la playa!
