El cascanueces es una pieza de ballet basada en el cuento de Ernst Hoffman “El cascanueces y el rey de los ratones”.
A pesar de que lo que se ve hoy en día en el escenario es un poco diferente de la historia original, la trama sigue siendo la misma; la historia de una niña alemana que sueña con un príncipe Cascanueces y una feroz batalla contra un rey ratón con siete cabezas.

Esta obra de ballet se estrenó 1892 en el teatro Mariinski de San Petersburgo y hasta la fecha se ha convertido en un éxito que ha dado la vuelta al mundo en innumerables versiones. En los países occidentales, El Cascanueces se ha convertido en el más popular de todos los ballets, realizados principalmente durante la temporada navideña.

El día de ayer 10 de noviembre, el Istituto Europeo di Design (IED) ha inaugurado una nueva sede con 5,000 metros cuadrados de superficie, y con esta nueva sede podrá recibir hasta 1,600 estudiantes tanto extranjeros, y nacionales.
