The Student Hotel and Melon District, two leading providers of student accommodation have recently merged. The combination further strengthens the position of the groups in Europe as they continue to expand their portfolios. Barcelona-based Melon District and Amsterdam-based The Student Hotel will have a combined portfolio of over 3,000 rooms this year. Their hybrid business model allows them to serve the accommodation needs of students, interns, trainees and the millennial generation.
The new group aims to have 10,000 rooms open by 2020 in Dutch cities, Paris, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Milan, Rome, Edinburgh and Dublin.

The Role:

The Finance Team is responsible for accounting reporting and control for all management, property companies, operating companies and holding companies that are part of the Group.

Melon District is looking for a Reporting and Controlling Analyst to join the Barcelona based finance team, having frequent interaction with the Amsterdam based team.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

- Responsible for producing Monthly Reporting: P&L, cash flow and balance sheet to be accompanied by analysis and commentaries on deviations (Actuals, Forecast, Budget, Last Year) for the assigned companies/projects; this will require working closely with Accounting and coordination with other departments (sales, marketing, and operations.

- Preparing Annual Budget for Group Companies, P&L, cash flow and balance sheet for the assigned companies/projects; this will require coordination with other departments (sales, marketing, and operations). To prepare forecasts with the established frequency in a timely manner.

- Assist in the creation of 5 year business plans for assigned Group Companies being able to justify assumptions used.

- Analyzing established Key Performance Indicators.

- Playing important role in process of integration for Reporting tools for two companies that have recently merged and finding best practices in the Finance Departments.

- Assist in preparing annual audited financial statements.

- Assisting CFO, other Senior Management or Team Members as required, in preparation of presentations and documentation for investors, banks, etc.

Desired Skills & Experience:

- 3-5 Years Working Experience in Hospitality Industry, Hospitality Consultancy Firm and/or Big 4 Transaction Services Team.
- Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance. Post graduate degree will be highly valued.
- Bilingual in Spanish and English. Dutch and French will be greatly valued.
- Exceptional Excel skills to prepare and analyze complex models. Solid Technical Skills in PowerPoint.
- Strong Analytical skills.
- Excellent planning skills and the ability to work with deadlines with little supervision.
- Accuracy and Attention to detail.
- Capability of learning new systems rapidly (Property Management System and Accounting Systems).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in an International team.
- Frequent travel between Barcelona and Amsterdam. 

Résidence concernée: Melon DIstrict Paris La Défense

Melon District recherche son chef de réception. Il sera en charge de diriger la réception du centre en ce qui concerne l’Attention Client, les communications avec la Direction et les différents services (maintenance, petit-déjeuner), les départements administratifs, commerciaux et réservation ainsi que les prestataires internes (ménage, linge) et externes.

Il Secondera la direction et assumera ses absences comme seconde figure de responsabilité du centre

Ses principales missions:

- Manager le département réception en faisant respecter les procédures du groupe
- Assurer le suivi des horaires des collaborateurs sous sa responsabilité et leur planification
- Etre le principal interlocuteur de la clientèle étudiante
- Animer les activités du centre
- Assurer la bonne communication entre le département réception et les différents services
- Résoudre les incidences de réservation et d’administration

Lien hiérarchique:

Le chef de réception reporte hiérarchiquement au directeur de la résidence.


Le directeur des opérations, le directeur de la résidence, le chef de réception, les serveurs petit-déjeuner, les clients, l’ensemble des interlocuteurs du siège Melon District.

Profil recherché:

- Formation hôtelière pré ou post bac
- Expérience validée dans le management d’un département réception
- Expérience de 5 ans minimum dans le milieu hôtelier
- Anglais et espagnol courants indispensables
